Mushing

Dog mushing. Its a passion, a sport, and more then anything - its the Alaskan lifestyle.

Matt is a second generation musher, Elke found this life after Texan roots, and together they have created something exceptional.
A close-knit, home run kennel. Just Matt, Elke, their handler and the dogs. There is more then just a strong bond between musher and dog. Its family. A small kennel that achieves GREAT things - Together.

They live in an off-grid, solar panel yurt. An outside well on their 40 acres and a wood shed for their stove is a part of daily life. With sled dogs being at the center of it.

Each day starts and ends with taking care of their canine companions. This life with their dogs provides them with grand adventures in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness. One of those adventures? Racing.

While daily life is what they are all about, racing is their goals and their achievements. Matt and Elke together have won 5 vet care awards in their careers. Awards given for outstanding care of the dogs while keeping a competitive edge.

They have won many races such as the Copper Basin 300, Yukon Quest Alaska 300, Solstice 50 and 20.
Matt and their team of Aces were champions of The Yukon Quest 1,000 in 2017 and finished 2nd place in last years Iditarod, 2024. The biggest and most competitive sled dog race in the world.
